Awarding organisations
These are those educational organizations that have the authority to offer accredited qualifications, and in order to be able to perform this role, the organization itself must be accredited by the Qualifications and Examinations Office, which is the body responsible for reviewing educational organizations in the United Kingdom.
Awarding organizations and Ofqual
Awarding Bodies have the option to be subject to the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). You can apply to become an accredited organization that awards qualifications if you would like Ofqual to regulate some or all of your qualifications. You must make sure you fully comprehend the implications of receiving Ofqual recognition. It’s a big deal with big rewards, but it also comes with requirements that will affect your company because regulated organizations have to abide by Ofqual rules.
The role and powers of Awarding Organizations
An awarding body creates, develops, administers, and bestows credentials, which may include apprenticeship end-point assessments (EPAs) in certain circumstances. A qualification is given to students who meet the necessary attainment standards after passing an exam that measures their knowledge, abilities, and comprehension of a subject.
Awarding organizations and the labor market
The organizations that award qualifications do so in order to satisfy the demands of their clients, which include training providers, colleges, and schools that offer the courses leading to these credentials. Exams, tests, and other assessments are administered by awarding organizations to students in order for them to receive their qualifications. A quality-awarding organization will blend operational delivery effectiveness with assessment expertise.
Awarding organizations principal advantages
Being acknowledged as an award-winning organization has the following advantages:
Your qualifications may be taken into account for state and publicly funded college and school teaching positions.
Users of credentials are reassured by the acknowledgement that your organization is capable of creating and providing high-quality qualifications.
The Ofqual logo is a recognized quality mark that may be applied to certificates for regulated qualifications.
As long as they are still offered and completed in England, your qualifications will be recognized both domestically and globally. The Ofqual quality mark has international recognition.
Your credentials will appear on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, which is a useful tool for anyone looking to get a certification that meets their needs.
If you are an apprenticeship end-point assessment organization (EPAO), you are able to deliver End-point assessment in cases where the trailblazer has chosen Ofqual to conduct an external quality evaluation.
Apprenticeship end-point assessments Awarding organizations
For apprenticeship EPAs, Ofqual offers External Quality Assurance. To be eligible to give EPAs for standards for which we offer External Quality Assurance, you must be approved by Ofqual. Every organization’s application for recognition is evaluated in light of the quantity and kind of EPAs they wish to provide.
In the event that you haven’t previously, the Department for Education (DfE) mandates that you apply to become a member of the apprenticeship providers and assessment registry (APAR) after receiving Ofqual accreditation for your apprenticeship EPA(s). The DfE website has information on their criteria and procedures.
